‘Rs 5 lakh in cash, Rs 20 lakh through remittances’: Disha Patani’s father promised top job in government; cheated of Rs 25 lakh

Actress Disha Patani’s father and former Deputy Superintendent of Police Jagdish Singh Patani have reportedly been duped. ₹25 lakh by a group of fraudsters who promised him a senior position in a government commission, police said on Friday.

The group allegedly took ₹25 lakhs from him— ₹5 lakh in cash and ₹20 lakh through transfers to three different bank accounts.

The FIR was lodged against five persons — Shivendra Pratap Singh, Diwakar Garg, Acharya Jayaprakash (of Juna Akhara), Preeti Garg and one unidentified person — on charges of cheating, criminal intimidation and extortion, officials said, PTI reported.

Jagdish Singh Patani, a resident of Civil Lines area of ​​Bareilly, alleged in his complaint that Shivendra Pratap Singh, an acquaintance, introduced him to Diwakar Garg and Acharya Jayaprakash. The accused reportedly claimed to have strong political connections and assured Patani of a chairman, vice-chairman or other prestigious post in a government commission.

The retired police officer also claimed that when no progress was made, even after paying the entire amount, the group promised to return the money with interest.
