Teenagers charged in crash that killed 70-year-old man in St. Pete: SPPD

St. PETERSBURG, Florida. The St. Petersburg Police Department (SPPD) said five boys between the ages of 12 and 15 have been charged in connection with a crash that killed a 70-year-old man on Monday (October 21). .

According to the St. Petersburg Police Department (SPPD), a Jeep SUV that had been reported stolen the day before was traveling north on 12th Street before turning west on 9th Avenue around 8:00 p.m.

The SUV then struck Edward Webb, 70, who was crossing 9th Avenue South before fleeing the scene. Webb later died from his injuries at Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital.

The suspect then left the vehicle at 9th Avenue South and 14th Street South.

On October 25, law enforcement officers identified the driver of the stolen jeep as a 14-year-old boy. Among the passengers were four 12-, 13-, 14- and 15-year-olds.

The driver is charged with third-degree murder, manslaughter, driving without a license causing death and grand larceny.

All passengers are charged with third-degree murder and grand theft auto.
