New details in Moorhead shooting, man charged with attempted murder

MOORHEAD, Minn. (Valley News Live) – One person has been charged in connection with shooting in Moorhead over the weekend.

Francis Robert Ochiti, 28, is charged with attempted first-degree murder. He is being held in Clay County on $1 million bond.

Around 1 p.m. on Oct. 19, Moorhead police were called to a home in the Village Green South neighborhood for a shooting.

According to recently filed court documents, the victim told police that his half-brother, Ochiti, shot him and ran away.

The victim said he heard a knock on his bedroom window. He looked out and saw Ochiti with a gun. Ochiti shot out the window and ran away. The victim was not injured.

The documents say police found a hole in the window and a neighbor provided video of the incident. The court said that the victim had not communicated with his brother for several years.

Court documents say Ochiti took an Uber to his brother’s house and told the driver he had “something to take care of.”

Ochiti is due back in court on January 9, 2025.
