A .7 million grant will help replace the Bay Co. Bridge

BAY COUNTY, Mich. (WNEM) – A $6.7 million grant has been awarded to replace the Fraser Street Bridge that spans the Kawkawlin River in Bay County.

This was announced by Congressman Dan Kildee on Monday, November 4.

A $6.7 million grant was provided by the U.S. Department of Transportation for the Bay County Road Commission to replace the 65-year-old bridge.

“By investing in rebuilding our infrastructure, we’re bringing federal resources back home to rebuild Michigan’s roads and bridges. Repairing infrastructure means creating good paying jobs and growing our local economy,” Kildee said.

Funding for the grant comes from the Bridge Investment Program, which was created through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Act to receive federal funding to replace bridges to improve safety, efficiency and reliability.
