Teen arrested after punching 70-year-old woman at rally in Stuart

A 17-year-old boy has been charged after police say he punched a 70-year-old woman during a rally on the Roosevelt Bridge in Stuart.

The incident happened around 11:40 a.m. Saturday at the north end of the Roosevelt Bridge.

Stewart police said they received multiple reports of a woman being hit by a man.

Lt. Brian S. Bossio said witnesses were able to identify the suspect and officers on the scene were able to quickly take the 17-year-old into custody.

Police said the boy punched the 70-year-old woman after a separate argument with the man, causing her to fall to the ground, according to witnesses and the victim. The police reported that the woman refused medical help on the spot.

The guy was detained, he faces punishment for a person over 65 years old.
