Liam Payne reportedly passed out before falling to his death, security footage shows

This is evidenced by security footage Liam Payne accidentally passed out falling to his death October 16, reports an Argentine journalist Paula Varela.

Varela said during a speech at Socios del Espectáculoto the Canal 13 program based in Buenos Aires that CCTV footage captured Payne’s fall and the moments leading up to it.

“There’s footage that hasn’t been released to the media with the balcony scene where you see Liam pass out and unfortunately, because of where he is, fall off that balcony. If he was at his bedside, he would have fallen on his bed,” Varela said on the show, trans Mirror and GB news. “It’s not like he jumped on purpose. These shots are in the official materials of the case.”

Varela’s claims support Payne’s previous autopsy findings, which stated that Payne “may have fell into a state of semi- or complete unconsciousness“, as the position in which the body of the 31-year-old man was found and his injuries indicate that he “did not adopt a reflexive posture to protect himself” during the fall.

Police responded to a 911 call about an “aggressive” man under the influence at Liam Payne’s hotel

Chief of the emergency service of Buenos Aires Alberto Crescenti said that Payne received “serious bodily harm” who were “incompatible with life” after falling from the third-floor balcony of the CasaSur Palermo hotel.

“From what the team saw, there was clearly a fractured skull and extremely severe injuries that led to his immediate death,” Crescenti said. “The team could do absolutely nothing. There was no resuscitation because they declared death.”

A partial autopsy revealed that Payne had “pink cocaine” — a recreational drug that is usually a mixture of ketamine, MDMA and methamphetamine — was in his system when he died, along with cocaine, benzodiazepines and crack cocaine.

While Payne’s initial preliminary autopsy stated that “no injuries were noted to indicate third-party involvement,” Varela claimed that there is someone being investigated in connection with the One Direction alum’s death: a hotel employee.

Fans held a vigil outside Hotel Argentina following the death of One Direction alum Liam Payne

“He has developed a great relationship with Liam. He disobeyed the order of the hotel administration. … It wasn’t to carry anything into Liam’s room,” Varela said of the worker. “Because of the good relationship he had with Liam, he requested a car through one of those taxi apps we all use because Liam wanted something. He did him a favor, a huge mistake, because he’s being investigated and they see what was transported in that car.”

Varela added that the hotel employee has been suspended.

Payne is survived by his 7-year-old son, Bear, with whom he lived Cheryl Cole. Cole, 41, reacted to Payne’s death via Instagram on October 18.

“As I try to navigate this heartbreaking event and work through my own grief during this unspeakably painful time, I would like to kindly remind everyone that we have lost a person,” Cole wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of Payne with the then-baby Bear. “Liam was not only a pop star and a celebrity, he was a son, brother, uncle, dear friend and father to our 7-year-old son. A son who is now forced to face the reality that he will never see his father again.”
