Jamie King’s ex-husband, Kyle Newman, has reportedly accused the actress of being “stressed” and “drunk” while their children, James Knight, 10, and Leo Thames, 8, were in her care.
“Kyle is dealing with a serious situation that affects the safety and well-being of his children and is asking for his children’s privacy during this difficult process,” Newman’s attorney, Harry M. Hecht, said in a statement to Page Six on Tuesday.
Newman, 48, filed the petition in Los Angeles Superior Court on October 23. He claimed his children were in the custody of his ex on October 17 when he received a call from them. according to InTouch Weekly. Both children were crying and allegedly asked their father to give them a lift, the newspaper reports.
Upon arriving at the scene, Newman allegedly found King, 45, sitting on the floor and who appeared to be “without pants (or possibly short shorts),” the statement said. Allegedly, two men joined her.
“Jamie looked upset, confused and was acting drunk. She gestured for me to come over to her because she was trying to get up but she couldn’t get up,” he said in court documents, according to the source.
Newman claims King was “slurred” and allegedly told him about their sons: “These are bad boys. Something must be done with our boys. Their behavior is wrong.”
He also reportedly claimed that his children were wearing the same clothes they had worn to school the day before.
Newman then asked King if she had been drinking, to which she allegedly did not respond. He then left with the children and eventually brought them to school, where one child reported her mother’s behavior to the school’s therapist.
In the petition, Newman asked the judge to order King to stay away from the children. He also asked for sole physical custody of both children and to allow King supervised visitation.
Newman also wants King to undergo drug and alcohol testing.
“Currently, the children are in danger under the care of their mother. Jamie King suffers from drug and alcohol addiction, emotional abuse and neglect of our children; putting them in danger and exposing them to many disturbing people and situations, including sexual content,” he said in a statement.
“The children are begging me to help save them from the chaos in their mother’s house.”
Newman says his children are deeply troubled by some of their mother’s comments.
Not only does King allegedly smoke in the house without opening the windows and doors while her children are present, but she also allegedly told her sons that the American Cancer Society’s website was “propaganda” and blew smoke in their faces.
“Jamie apparently told (their son) that she wanted him to ‘go back into her womb and cuddle with her’ so she could be as close to him as possible. He is very concerned about these comments,” he said.
“Our children are in grave danger if Jaime regains custody because she continues to drive them around while intoxicated, have strange men come to the house, and send them to sleep in the boys’ rooms,” Newman said in the statement. . “The children are so petrified that they have asked to speak to a judge so they don’t have to go home to their mother.”
He noted that King “loves (their) children” and just wants her to “get help.”
“However, I cannot force her to get help and cannot allow our children to be in constant danger and abuse because of Jaime’s addiction problems,” he wrote.
Newman continued: “I fear that without strict orders, Jamie will continue to game the system – she has been sanctioned twice by two different judges in our family law case and refuses to comply with court orders, such as a restraining order requiring her to alcohol intoxication when the children are under her care.”
King filed for divorce from Newman on May 18, 2020, after 13 years of marriage. At that time she asked for a partial preventive measure related to child custody and dating. Now the exes have been embroiled in a nasty custody battle for two years divorced in September 2023.
A representative for King did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
