Hong Kong authorities will investigate the disruption of a concert at the Kai Tak Sports Park in Hong Kong

A concert featuring more than half a dozen artists to test Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Sports Park was cut short on Friday after the show started late and ran about 50 minutes longer than planned, prompting officials to promise to look into the matter.

Speaking at the end of the four-hour concert, which was attended by 5,500 people, Sports Commissioner George Tsoi Kin-pan said: “When the show opened, we realized that the entry time of the audience was different from the original.

“We will be communicating with the organizers about exceeding the approximately 45-50 minutes of actual concert time.”

The ‘Chill Keng Music Festival’ at Kai Tak Arena was scheduled to start at 6.30pm and will feature Cantopop boy band Mirror, girl group Collar and various Thai acts such as Scrubb, Serious Bacon, Atlas, D Gerrard. , 4Eve, Jeff Satur and Bowkilion.

But the show started at 6.50pm and didn’t end until 10.40pm, well after the originally scheduled 10pm, with the last two performances postponed.

But Tsoi emphasized that it is important that authorities have effective mechanisms to communicate and respond to exceedances. He noted that they have established channels to communicate with transport operators to inform them when concertgoers will be leaving.
