Firearms dealer pleads guilty to illegal sale in Port St. Lucie

A 76-year-old Port St. Lucie firearms dealer has pleaded guilty to selling several firearms “illegally.”

The US Department of Justice (DOJ) said on Wednesday that Michael John Pellicione, who operated a gun shop out of his home, was indicted on five counts of selling firearms without complying with the law’s record keeping requirements.

As a federal firearms licensee (FFL), Pellicione was required to keep accurate records of all firearms transactions, officials said. However, he failed to document the sale of the five firearms in his required acquisition and disposition record.

The report states that under federal law, FFLs must register every firearm they purchase or manufacture, including important details such as type, make, model, caliber and serial number. They are also required to record the date and source of receipt of any firearm and the name and address of the person to whom each firearm was sold or transferred.

Pellicone faces up to five years in prison, and a sentencing date has not yet been set.
