Evansville man faces felony charges after stealing tools from Hope Depot, deputies say

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – An Evansville man is facing more than a dozen charges after deputies say he stole multiple items from a Hope Depot warehouse.

On Oct. 30 around 5:30 p.m., Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a theft at the Home Depot on Pearl Drive.

A loss prevention officer told authorities that Ronnie D. White II and two other men were banned from the store.

The investigation led deputies to surveillance video that allegedly shows White and another man trying to leave the store with a cart full of power tools.

Deputies say the video shows one of the suspects dropping the cart and leaving the store after being confronted by a loss prevention officer.

During an interview with authorities, one of the suspects told deputies that White was involved in six other thefts from the same Home Deport.

A few days later, deputies took Bily into custody and questioned him about the thefts.

Deputies say White identified himself and the other suspect in surveillance photos.

According to the affidavit, White told detectives he was selling the tools he stole at a discounted price on Facebook Marketplace and to people he “ran into.”

Ronnie Delmonte White II, 30, was arrested Saturday and booked into the Vanderburgh County Jail without bond.

He is charged with seven counts of organized theft and seven counts of theft – an unrelated prior conviction.
