A 23-year-old Montgomery man died of a gunshot wound Friday afternoon, police said.

At about 4:25 p.m., police and firefighters responded to the 1900 block of Gibbs Drive after a report of a person shot, said Lt. David Wise, spokesman for the Montgomery Police Department. Zachary McMinns, 23, of Montgomery, was found with a fatal gunshot wound and pronounced dead.

MPD initially investigated the shooting as a homicide, but police said evidence led them to reclassify it as a death investigation. No other information was immediately released by police and they are continuing to investigate.
