Voting is now open for the 2024 NMPA Most Popular Driver Award

Voting is now open for this year’s National Motorsports Press Association (NMPA) Most Popular Driver Award in the NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR Xfinity Series and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.

Beginning Monday, October 28, 2024, fans will have the opportunity to cast their vote for the NASCAR National Series’ annual Most Popular Driver award.

Each person has the right to cast five votes for one driver once a day, using your NASCAR.com email addressor by logging into the NASCAR mobile app and voting.

In order to be eligible for the NMPA Most Popular Driver Award (in the NASCAR Cup Series), a driver must claim points for the NASCAR Cup Series and be eligible to compete for the championship during the 2024 season.

The voting process will continue until Thursday, November 21, 2024. The winners of the Cup, Xfinity and Truck Series Most Popular Driver Awards will be announced the following evening during NASCAR’s annual awards ceremony in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Curtis Turner became the first winner of NASCAR’s Most Popular Driver award in 1949 after completing NASCAR’s first Strickly Stock (now Cup Series) campaign. Administered by the NMPA since 1983, the award remains to this day the only major award given solely by fan vote.

NASCAR Hall of Fame driver Bill Elliott, the 1988 NASCAR Winston Cup Series champion, holds the record for the top 16 driver awards: 1984-1988, 1991-2000 and 2002. Dale Earnhardt Jr. won the prestigious award 15 consecutive times. seasons, from 2003 until his retirement in 2017.

After Earnhardt retired from NASCAR Cup racing, Chase Elliott, son of NASCAR legend Bill Elliott, won the award in each of the last five seasons.

Justin Allgaier and Haley Deegan are recent winners of the award in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.
