A man has died in hospital after a shooting near the Congress Heights subway station

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — Police have launched a homicide investigation after a man was killed in southeast D.C. over the weekend.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), on Saturday, Oct. 26, just after 3:30 p.m., officers were called to the 1200 block of Alabama Avenue for a shooting. It is near the Congress Heights subway station

When they arrived at the scene, they found a man who was unconscious.

Medics took him to the hospital, where he died.

The county’s polling stations are open for early voting in the 2024 general election

During the investigation, police identified the victim as 24-year-old Joevont Ramsey of Southeast.

Anyone with information is asked to call 202-727-9099 or text MPD to 50411.

The police department said it is offering a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone with information leading to an arrest and conviction.
