Chicago crime: Angel Rodriguez charged with felony hit-and-run in fatal crash in Little Village on 26th Street, Chicago police say

CHICAGO (WLS) — A man has been charged in connection with a fatal crash on the Southwest Side Sunday, Chicago police said.

The crash happened around 2 a.m. in the 4500 block of West 26th Street in Little Village, police said.

Chicago police reported that 35-year-old Angel Rodriguez was driving under the influence of alcohol.

As a result of the accident, a 26-year-old man who was riding in the car with Rodriguez died.

Rodriguez is charged with two felony counts of reckless homicide and aggravated intoxication; two reports of offenses for driving under the influence of alcohol. He was also cited for speeding.

He was arrested on the spot.

The identity of the 26-year-old man has not been established.

Rodriguez is scheduled to appear in court on Monday for a detention hearing.
