Zone reads: How the Eagles beat the Bengals

The Philadelphia Eagles has won three straight, thanks to a 37-17 victory Sunday at the Cincinnati Bengals.

And if not for the last second touchdown miracle from Jaden Daniels to Noah Brown, they would be alone in first place in the NFC East.

So Philadelphia fans will have to settle for another very winnable game this week at home vs. Jacksonville before divisional contests vs Dallas and Washington.

Here’s a look at local reads from Sunday’s win.

“The Hurts moniker he gave himself may not stick, but an offense that featured more plays from under center, more shotgun plays, more play action — and, yes, more running — maybe should be the formula given the personnel “Orlov” and the struggle of the defender at the beginning of the season”.

“Barrow and LSU beat Hurts and Oklahoma in the national semifinals after the 2019 Heisman runner-up season. Barrow was the #1 pick in the 2020 draft. Herts took 53rd place. Hurts knows he hasn’t been considered one of the best defenders very often over the past season and a half, while Burrow’s star has remained high; and that on any given day the best QB usually wins.”

“I had a double knot. Usually, when I wear low-top Air Jordans, I have to tie them really tight so that I can support my ankle well. I tied it so tight that I couldn’t get the knot off, so I had to go put some shoes on Jalen.”

“Prior to this game, the Eagles’ only two field goals all season were interceptions by Reid Blankenship. He had one in his debut against the Packers in Brazil and had one in New Orleans to seal a win over the Saints.

They played to the music, just like the offense played behind quarterback Jalen Hurts. Look no further than Hurts to see why the Eagles turned their season around after a humiliating loss to Tampa Bay on Sept. 29.

“They got stopped like they always seem to in short-yardage situations. At that point, head coach Zach Taylor pushed his chips into the middle of the table and decided to go for it on fourth down with the Bengals stuck in their own territory. Quarterback Joe Burrow took the line in the shotgun, and Taylor called a screen that quickly fed wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase behind the ball in space.

The Philadelphia Eagles once again shut out the Bengals and lost to the Chase.”
