Convertedrunner-up in the 2022 Coral Gold Cup returned to winning ways with a stunning success in the Desert Orchid Silver Cup.

The David Pipe-trained veteran has been stopped in four of five starts since scoring at Kempton in December 2022, but withstood the stewards’ call to score a short header from Deise Aba in the 3m2½f Handicap Chase. Winning rider Jack Tudor doubles up in 2m4f Novice Handicap Chase Camino Rocio.

“We were very close to retiring him,” Pipe told Racing TV. “We thought we should try it again.

“He still works at home, as he did five years ago. It was a fantastic result and it’s great to see two 11-year-olds finish.”

Brocade Racing’s Gold Cup winners were also successful with Bloodstock agent Tom Malone aboard Oleksya in a charity race held in memory of Keegan Kirkby, a key member of the Paul Nicholls stable who died in the point-to-point. fall at the age of 25 in February.

Malone raised over £35,000 for Racing Welfare and the Injured Jockeys Fund.

Numitor maintained his perfect record in the 2x4f Veterans Handicap Chase. The £25,000 tournament was a qualifier for the final at Haydock, which the ten-year-old won last season.
