To post an obituary, please include information from the obituary checklist below in an email to [email protected]. There is no way to host them through our website. Please contact our obituary service at 651-228-5263 with any questions.

General information:

• Your full name,
• Address (city, region, postal code),
• phone number,
• And an additional phone number (if any)

Obituary specification:

• Name of the deceased
• The text of the obituary,
• A photo in a JPEG or PDF file is preferred, TIF files and others are accepted, if there are any problems with the photo, we will contact you.
• Ad display dates
• There is a discount for running more than one day, but it must be scheduled on the first date of the run to apply.
• If a photo is used, it must be used on both days for the discount to apply. Contact us for more information.

Regulations:

Confirmation of death:

To publish obituaries, the name and telephone number of the funeral home/cremation society must be provided. We must contact the funeral home/cremation society handling the arrangements during business hours to confirm the death. If the decedent’s body has been donated to the University of Minnesota Anatomy Bequest Program or a similar program, a phone number is required for verification.

Please allow enough time to contact them, especially during their limited weekend hours.

A death certificate is also acceptable for this purpose, but only one of these two options is required.

Guestbook and external websites:

We are prohibited from linking to other media sources with a guestbook or obituary posted elsewhere when publishing an obituary in print and online. Instead, we may post the funeral home’s website or the family’s contact email address; Please contact us with any questions regarding this matter.

Obituaries registration process:

Once your submission is complete, we will fax or email a confirmation for review before publication in the newspaper. This confirmation includes the price and the days when the message is scheduled to appear.

Look carefully at the evidence. We must be notified of errors or changes before notice appears in the Pioneer Press based on each day’s deadlines.

Once published, we are not responsible for any errors that may occur after final review.

Online:

All obituaries appear on TwinCities.com with a permanent presence in the guest book on the Internet. If you wish to remove your online presence, you can contact us to remove your online guestbook. Changes to the online obituary can be made through the obituary service. Call us with additional questions.

Payment procedure:

Prepayment is required for all obituaries prior to publication by the deadline listed below in our deadline schedule. Please call 651-228-5263 with your payment information after you receive confirmation and verify its contents.

Credit card: Payment is only accepted over the phone in accordance with PCI (Payment Card Industry) regulations.

EFT: Check by phone. Please include your route number and account number.

Cash: Accepted by us FRONT COUNTER Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m

Tariffs:

• The minimum payment is $162 for the first 10 lines.
• Each line after the first 10 costs $12.20.
• If the ad has less than 10 lines, it will be charged a minimum fee of $162.
• On the second launch day, lines are $8.20 per line, starting with the first line.
• For example, if the first launch date was 20 rows, the cost would be $164.
• Each published photo is worth $125 per day.
• For example: 2 photos in a newspaper in 2 days will be billed for 4 photos at $500.

MEMORIAM (NOT OBITUARY) REQUEST.

Unlike an obituary, a Memoriam message is a remembrance of a loved one who has died. Memorial rates are different from obituaries.
