Saudi Arabia: Here are the exit rules for domestic workers

The department noted that communication through the “Tawasul” service through the government electronic platform “Absher” can be carried out 30 days after the visa expires. Tawasul enables beneficiaries to apply for transactions without the need to appear at the passport office.

Saudi Arabia’s labor authorities have recently attempted to regulate the domestic labor market.

To this end, the Ministry of Human Resources has launched Musaned, a platform responsible for domestic labor affairs in the kingdom, to help clients learn about their rights, responsibilities and related services, including visa issuance, employment requests and contractual relations between the employer and worker.

The ministry stated the need to conduct contracts through Musaned, which is the official platform for recruiting personnel.

Last year, Saudi Arabia unveiled new employment rules for domestic workers, setting the minimum worker age at 21 as part of efforts to preserve contractual rights. The regulations emphasize that debts owed to the employee or his heirs are considered first priority debts.

The contract must have a fixed term, and if not, it will be considered extended for one year from the date the employee completes the work.

According to the rules, the daily working time of a domestic worker is 10 hours, and the worker is entitled to a weekly paid rest of 24 hours.

At the same time, the employer is prohibited from taking the passport, other personal documents or things from the domestic worker.

Domestic workers in Saudi Arabia include housekeepers, drivers, housekeepers, cleaners, cooks, security guards, farmers, nurses, tutors and nannies.
