How to save on Christmas shopping

Consumer reporter Sam Walker tells how you can save on Christmas shopping.

Limit the number of gifts – buying gifts for all your family and friends can cost a fortune.

Instead, why not organize a secret Santa between your inner circle so you don’t have to buy multiple presents.

Plan ahead – if you have the stamina and the budget, it’s worth buying Christmas presents for next year at the January sales.

Make sure you look for the best deals with price comparison sites so you don’t shell out more than you need to.

Shop the Boxing Day sales – some retailers start their main Christmas sales earlier, so you can grab a bargain before 25 December.

Shipping may cost you a bit more, but it’s worth it if you save a decent amount.

Buy in outlets – you can save a ton of money by shopping through outlets like Amazon Warehouse or Office Offcuts.

They work by selling returned or slightly damaged items at a discounted price, but usually any wear and tear is minor.
