Salmon Arm RCMP arrest drunk driver who attempted to flee after multi-vehicle crash – Salmon Arm News

The driver ran away from the accident

Salmon Arm Mounties say a drunk driver who crashed his car after colliding with multiple vehicles has been arrested after he reportedly tried to flee the scene.

On Nov. 3, Salmon Arm RCMP received a report that a vehicle crashed into several other vehicles before the driver attempted to flee on foot near the intersection of 30 Street SW and the Trans-Canada Highway.

“Police attended the scene and located the driver who refused to identify himself,” said Const. Andrew Hodges of the Salmon Arm RCMP. “A breathalyzer was administered and the man refused to provide a sample of his breath.”

Refusal to demand breath carries the same penalty as refusal.

Police suspended the man from driving for 90 days and impounded his heavily damaged 2019 Chevrolet Malibu for 30 days.

The man was also detained for obstruction and eventually released when he turned himself in to an RCMP officer.

The Mounties then referred the case to RoadSafetyBC.
