Suspects in Lee County robbery carjacked South Austin man same morning: officials

Earlier this week we told you the story of four ATM robbers Lee County which were arrested after leading authorities on a high-speed chase.

Law enforcement officers say that they are involved in a burglary that happened in South Austin that same morning.

On Nov. 12 around 9 a.m., Sean Bice went to the Bank of America on Stassney Lane to make a deposit for work. The bank employee said their systems were down and asked what people were waiting for.

Buys believes one of the suspects overheard his response.

“When I told (the employee) I was there for a deposit, she said I would have to come back and I left. (The suspect) came out like right behind me,” he said. “I didn’t really think anything of it. In the end they followed me here to the post office.’

He went to the post office on Menchaca Road, unaware that he was being followed.

“Within a minute a woman came in and said someone was breaking into my car, I got out and they took off,” he said.

Buys found the window on the passenger side broken. $8,500 and a handgun were taken from his center console.

“I was out of my mind,” he said.

Lee County officials say the same suspects attacked the classic bank Giddings Later that morning, he robbed an ATM technician of $30,000 and led to a car chase of up to 120 mph.

John Cook, Zachary Walker, Treshun Green and Jamil Davis were arrested after Giddings police put tires on them.

“I felt bad for the (robbery victim) that this happened to, but luckily they got to Lee County quickly and got them,” Bice said.

He hopes people will remain vigilant.

“Pay attention, even if you think you are paying attention, pay more attention. If you think it won’t happen to you, I thought the same thing. It was less than a minute before they were in my car,” he said. said

Buice says he expects to get his property back once investigators figure out what was taken from each location.
