San Mateo County sheriff’s deputy, sheriff’s deputy resign amid department chaos: sources

Acting San Mateo County Sheriff’s Deputy Matthew Fox and Sheriff’s Deputy Dan Perea have left the department amid growing disarray at the department, the sheriff’s union and an unnamed source told KTVU on Friday.

The union did not say specifically why Fox, who has worked in county law enforcement for 25 years, is no longer with the department.

Both Fox and Perea leave three days after the sharp conflict A 400-page report was published, which contains seven “substantiated findings” against Sheriff Christina Corpus for an alleged inappropriate workplace affair, use of racial and homophobic slurs, and engaging in intimidating and oppressive behavior.

Corpus defiantly said she had done nothing wrong at a news conference this week and before the supervisory board, which on Wednesday passed a vote of no confidence in her.

Meanwhile, Corpus has promoted her alleged boyfriend, Victor Enlle (the two deny a romantic relationship), from chief of staff to assistant sheriff.

His name – Dr. Victor Enell, Deputy Sheriff – is already painted in gold on his office door.

According to the report, Aenle is not a full-time law enforcement officer, and even his appointment as a reserve deputy, which he began in 2009, is in question.

His county biography states that he is a businessman, a private investigator and has experience in the field of medicine and real estate. His bio also states that he holds a PhD from the Union Institute and University of Los Angeles for Interdisciplinary Studies, specializing in ethical and creative leadership.

According to to the San Francisco Chronicle, 106 sworn officers have left the sheriff’s office since the Corps took over the position of one of the first two Hispanic sheriffs in California.

One of those employees was highly regarded Deputy Sheriff Chris Xiong, who parted ways with the department in June, the report said.

Also, on the same day the report was released, the Corps arrested Carlos Tapia, president of the Association of Sheriff’s Deputies, on suspicion of grand larceny and theft by false pretenses.

Charges include time card fraud.

The union immediately condemned the arrest, saying it had “all the hallmarks of retaliation against whistleblowers” after the report.

The San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office has not yet received the case, which means no charges have been filed.

According to county website, Fox and Corpus used to be in the same line.
