The Highway Patrol says Wallace was stationed at Camp Lejeune.

AND Biography of the Navy for Wallace reflects a storied service career that also included time at Cherry Point Air Station.

The Highway Patrol investigated that the couple’s Jeep Wrangler was southbound on Willie Hatcher Road but failed to yield to a chicken semi truck traveling westbound on Ludie Brown Road.

Officers say the Jeep crashed into a semi truck, which overturned, went to the left and came to rest partially off the road.

Police say Wallace and Castro died at the scene.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was taken to ECU Health Duplin Hospital with minor injuries, according to the patrol.
