A priest and a teenage girl were attacked during a wild fight in Cincinnati

CINCINNATI (WKRC) – Another violent incident involving teenagers in downtown Cincinnati has the attention of city officials.

This week, a group of teenagers reportedly got into a fight near 8th and Walnut streets, reminiscent of a similar incident in January when near Government Square and Fountain Square, teenagers attacked pedestrians.

Father Rob Jack of Sacred Heart Radio witnessed the event, which happened just before 1pm on Tuesday.

“These two young African-American girls looked like teenagers, and one ran past me. The other one comes closer to me and says, ‘They’re after me,’ and hits me on the arm like that, and continues,” Jack said.

Father Jack described seeing about 15-20 teenage boys and girls walking down the street.

“It was like they were following them,” Jack said.

A nearby worker called 911 and reported:

“We had a big fight here on Walnut Street with these high school kids, and they’re jumping on one daughter.”

The caller said there were no visible weapons involved in the attack.

By the time the police arrived, the street was almost empty as the teenagers had dispersed. Father Rob later discussed the incident on his radio show, expressing concern about the violence.

“I don’t want people to get hurt; I don’t want this violence to continue,” Jack said.

He emphasized the need for parents’ involvement, noting: “Parents need help, and parents should be parents. Our culture is facing many problems – economic and political. These things happen and it is a tragedy. And I believe that these children suffer the most.”

Father Rob added that what the children are being taught contributes to the problems.

“First, they are not taught right from wrong; second, they are taught that violence is the answer; and thirdly, they are not held accountable and they do not receive the support they need.”

The Archdiocese of Cincinnati and the Cincinnati Public Library reportedly have video footage of the incident, which they provided to police. Authorities have yet to make any arrests, but that could change once they review the surveillance footage. There were no serious injuries during the last fight.
