Baltimore teens charged with assault and carjacking of 79-year-old man with walker

BALTIMORE — A 79-year-old man attacked and carjacked a couple of teenagers in northwest Baltimore.

It happened on Nov. 14 around 4:45 p.m. in the 3300 block of Clarks Lane.

Police say a 79-year-old man reported he was attacked by a group of teenagers who stole his car keys and drove off.

Shomrim of Baltimore, a local public safety group, said the victim was using a walker when the suspects pushed him to the ground.

Fortunately, the victim only felt pain in his shoulder and was treated at the scene.

A short time later, a police helicopter located the victim’s stolen Chevy Traverse.

The car eventually crashed near the intersection of North Avenue and Uto Street.

Eight teenagers got out of the car and tried to run away, but were detained by the police.

Only two were arrested and charged, both for 15 years. The other six were released to their parents or guardians pending a juvenile hearing.
