FRANKLIN FURNACE — A Franklin Furnace man has been arrested and charged with murder after a man was found dead behind the wheel of an SUV that was riddled with bullets.

Thursday evening around 7:46 p.m., Scioto County 911 received a call of a shooting at 19 Disterdick Lane, Ironton.

When deputies and detectives arrived at the scene, they found Ronnie L. Rowe, 24, of South Shore, Kentucky, dead behind the wheel of a Chevy Equinox with multiple bullet holes.

Scioto County Sheriff David Thorowman said during the investigation detectives learned another man was inside the Chevy at the time of the shooting.

The man fled on foot and detectives were able to locate him a few minutes away on US 52 in the Franklin Furnace area.

Jacob Tyler Carver, 25, of Franklin Furnace, was identified as the shooter and was taken into custody. He was transported to the sheriff’s office for further investigation.

Carver was charged with one count of first degree murder. He is currently being held on $100,000 bond and will appear in Portsmouth Municipal Court on Monday.

Thoroughman said the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation has been contacted to help process the crime scene.

Rowe was sent to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office for an autopsy.

Thoroughman said this is still an ongoing investigation, which will result in additional charges being presented to a Scioto County Grand Jury at a later date.

Anyone with information should contact Detective Sergeant Jody Konkel at 740-351-1091.
