LCSO: Human remains unrelated to Jal missing persons case

Investigators have found evidence of 10 to 20 human skulls at a property near far southeastern New Mexico, but they now say they are unrelated to the case of a missing person that authorities believe was closely linked to by her

JAL, NM — Lee County deputies say the discovery of 10 to 20 human skulls is not connected to the 2019 disappearance of Angela McMains in JAL.

Authorities had questions about a possible connection because of how close her home was to where they found the remains.

Cecil Villanueva, a man who lived in the area where authorities found the remains, is in custody on unrelated charges. They did not charge him in connection with this investigation.
