A Cleveland-area mother said young children and teenagers are receiving these messages.

“You are a coward. You have the audacity to send this to 5th graders, 10th graders, even college students, but you don’t have the guts to say who you are,” she said.

Several Dayton residents shared the racist texts they received with News Center 7.

The messages differ slightly in terms of racist and offensive language.

The two messages read: “Congratulations! You have been chosen to pick cotton at the nearest plantation. Please be ready to leave home on November 24, 2024.”

The other two texts read, “Good afternoon, you have been selected to be a slave on your nearest plantation. Please be ready by 12 noon tomorrow.”

None of the half-dozen Dayton-area residents who say they received the messages wanted to speak on camera, but several provided the numbers from which the messages were sent.

News Center 7 called numbers in the Columbus and Cincinnati areas but did not receive an answer.
