Raylon East is charged with a double homicide at Navy Pier

The man was charged with fatal shooting of two men at Sea Pier on Tuesday, Chicago police said.

Raylon East, 36, of South Shore, faces two counts of first-degree murder and one count of criminal possession of a weapon, police said. East’s arrest was announced on Thursday.

East, described by police as a “disgruntled” former pier subcontractor who was fired Oct. 14, is alleged to have shot two victims in a targeted attack Tuesday, police said.

It was about 1:30 p.m. when paramedics were called to the pier, 600 E. Grand Ave., Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford said Tuesday. A guard was found Lamont Johnson, 51, of suburban Lansing, and Peter Jennings, 47, of the North Park area, in the loading dock area, according to the traffic scanner. There were shell casings around them.

He is expected in court Saturday afternoon.
