A man has died on a golf course road after being pulled over for speeding

A 28-year-old man died Thursday morning after a speeding car hit him and dragged him 20 meters on a golf course road, police said. The passengers of the car, who were probably intoxicated at the time, immediately left the car and fled the scene, the police added.

Manoj Kumar, officer-in-charge of the Sushant Lok police station, said Virender Kumar was wearing a helmet but the force of the impact left him with serious head injuries. (Representative image)

The victim was identified as Virender Kumar, who lived in Jarre, Delhi and worked as a driver for the headmaster of a private school in Chanakyapur, Delhi. He was riding his motorcycle to pick her up from her house in Gurugram’s Sector 54 when the accident took place at 6:45 am on Thursday.

“When Virender approached the Gurugram Sector 42/43 Rapid Metro station, a speeding Honda CRV hit his motorcycle from behind. The bike along with Virender got stuck under the car and were dragged for at least 20 meters. The car stopped and the driver and passengers fled the scene on foot, leaving Virender bleeding on the road,” said a senior police officer.

Passers-by alerted the police control room, following which an ambulance rushed to the spot and rushed Virender to Parasa Hospital in Sushant Lok Phase 1, Sector 43, where doctors declared him brought dead.

Manoj Kumar, officer-in-charge of the Sushant Lok police station, said Virender was wearing a helmet but the force of the impact left him with serious head injuries.

Nand Kishore, brother of Virender’s fiancee, said they received information about the accident at 7:50 am. “We immediately arrived at the hospital, but he was already dead. “Alcoholic drinks, snacks, disposable glasses and several other types of food were scattered in the car that hit him, which clearly indicates that those who were in it were drunk,” he said.

“The driver of the car has not been arrested yet. We recovered the car and mutilated motorcycle. Whatever was found inside the car was preserved as they were important exhibits,” said SHO Kumar.

Based on Kishor’s complaint, a first information report was registered against the driver under sections 106 (causing death by negligence) and 281 (reckless driving or driving on public roads) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at the Sushant Lok police station on Thursday.
