Here’s an overview of recent incidents and reports from Ventura County agencies:

Two Simi officers were injured by a suspected drunk driver

Two Simi Valley police officers were injured in a crash involving a suspected drunken driver Thursday night near Highway 118, authorities said.

According to the Simi Valley Police Department, a 28-year-old Simi man allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol caused a crash involving two patrol cars on Tapo Canyon Road near Interstate 118 around 9:25 p.m.

The officers were driving in the same lane when the suspect allegedly crashed into one of the patrol cars, said Sgt. Dui Bui This car then crashed into a patrol car that was driving ahead.

The impact injured officers and caused serious damage to all three vehicles, the sergeant said.

Two police officers were taken to a local hospital. One was released, Bui said late Friday morning, and the other is expected to be released later that day.

The suspect was arrested by the California Highway Patrol, CHP Officer Garrett Herzer said. He remained in custody Friday at the county jail on $60,000 bond, jail records showed. The accident is being investigated by the CHP.

Charged with attempted murder after tire slashing incident in TO

A Thousand Oaks man has been charged with attempted murder for allegedly shooting at the victim’s car after a tire-slashing incident earlier this month.

According to information from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, the first reports came in around 1 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 6, when residents reported that several vehicles had their tires slashed on Chiquita Lane in Thousand Oaks. A contract has been concluded with the agency for the provision of police services in the city. Chiquita Lane runs east of North Conejo School Road on the north side of Thousand Oaks Boulevard.

Three suspects were seen leaving the area on foot.

Two uninvolved men, ages 19 and 20, saw the suspects leave and followed them in a car, the sheriff’s press release said.

The suspects were picked up by a white sedan that turned around several times in the neighborhood. Authorities said the maneuvers caused both vehicles to face each other.

Several shots were fired from the suspects’ car, which hit the victim’s car. The suspects fled. There are no reports of casualties.

Thousand Oaks deputies and detectives found evidence of tire slashing and gunfire at the scene.

Three suspects were taken into custody during a coordinated law enforcement operation on Tuesday morning.

A search warrant was served at the home of a 36-year-old Thousand Oaks man who was charged Thursday with attempted murder, shooting into an occupied vehicle, vandalism and other offenses. A warrant search turned up evidence related to the vandalism and shooting, sheriff’s officials said, as well as a functional police radio scanner. No pleas were entered during Thursday’s arraignment, which was continued until Nov. 21. The defendant remained in the county’s main jail Friday in lieu of $700,000 bail, court and jail records showed.

The complaint, filed by the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office, includes vandalism charges against four victims whose tires were slashed. One was also the target of the shooting, the complaint said. The suspect is accused of using a Glock 9mm handgun with no serial numbers, known as a “ghost gun.”

Also Tuesday, a 38-year-old Thousand Oaks woman was arrested during a traffic stop. According to the sheriff, authorities found a loaded semi-automatic handgun in the car, which was within easy reach of three minor passengers. The gun had no serial number. The woman was arrested on suspicion of child endangerment and firearms. She was released from custody on $50,000 bail.

An 18-year-old Thousand Oaks man was arrested at his home in a sting operation Tuesday on suspicion of vandalism and conspiracy and was released after posting $40,000 bond, officials said.
