14-year-old boys in Madhya Pradesh hanged upside down, beaten and exposed to chili fumes for stealing

Two 14-year-old boys in Pandhurna district of Madhya Pradesh were hanged upside down, beaten and exposed to chili smoke as punishment for stealing a watch. The incident took place on October 31 and came to light on Sunday after a video of the incident went viral.

According to Mohgaon Superintendent of Police Rupalal Uike, the boys went to a local house to return the money borrowed for the cheese. While there, they reportedly picked up a watch.

Later, realizing their mistake, they quietly returned the clock to its original place. However, two men from the village, Nikhil Kalambe and Surendra Bawankar, saw that the boys were off guard and then forcibly took the boys to a tractor garage where they were questioned about the alleged theft, beaten and then treated with chili smoke.

At first, the boys did not inform their relatives about the event. However, when a video recorded by one of the accused, Surendra Bawankar, started circulating on WhatsApp, it eventually reached the father of one of the boys. Shocked, he asked his son, who told the details of the wanderings. The father then took his son to the police station, where an official report was filed.

Police have arrested Nikhil Kalambe, Surendra Bavankar and another suspect in the case and further investigation is on. In connection with the incident, the police registered a case under Articles 137, 2, 140, 3, 115, 35, 127, 2 and 75 of the BNS Law.
