Police escort pleads guilty and fines RM1,000 for assaulting deaf driver who calls via email

According to FMTthe accused, Tawfiq Ismail, pleaded guilty in the Magistrate’s Court after the charge under Section 323 of the Penal Code was read out before Magistrate Farah Nabiha Dan.

The 32-year-old man was charged with intentionally causing bodily harm to deaf and mute e-phone driver Ong Eng Keong, 47, in the lobby of The St Regis Kuala Lumpur at 11.40am on May 28.

The charge under Section 323 of the Penal Code is punishable by imprisonment for a term of up to one year, a maximum fine of RM2,000, or both on conviction.

Instead of a 20-day arrest, the accused paid a fine of 1,000 ringgit.
