Evacuation order lifted for 1 Deep Cove home

North Vancouver County crews completed construction work on Panorama Creek earlier this week to reduce the risk to life

On Friday, North Vancouver County lifted an evacuation order for one of three homes in Deep Cove.

Residents at 2514 Panorama Drive can return to the property. The premises at 5297 and 5313 Indian River Drive remain under evacuation orders.

County crews completed construction work on Panorama Creek earlier this week, reducing the risk to life safety.

The evacuation order went into effect last week after concerns about the extent of the debris flow into Ostler and Panorama Creeks following the Oct. 19-20 storm surge, limiting their ability “to withstand future heavy rainfall,” the county said in a statement. statement.

Fragments of wood fell next to the stones as big as “pumpkins” and “balls,” North Vancouver Mayor Mike Little said last week.

Areas east of Francis Creek, accessible from or via Indian River Road and Panorama Drive, north of the 2500 block of Deep Cove, are still under a state of local emergency.

The Oct. 26 evacuation order came shortly after the county announced the mandatory evacuation of six homes on Panorama Drive in Deep Cove due to flooding in the area on Oct. 20. Residents of these facilities were able to return on October 24.

Residents of affected facilities have the right to emergency assistance.
