Indiana man pleads guilty to assaulting law enforcement officers in crash at Capitol on Jan. 6

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.– Troy Allen Cohen, 54, of Brownsburg, Indiana, pleaded guilty Friday to assaulting law enforcement officers during the January 6, 2021, invasion of the U.S. Capitol.

Cohen admitted to aggressively pushing through barricades and using a flagpole to break glass doors and attack officers as he joined other rioters in a violent attempt to derail congressional ratification of the 2020 presidential election results.

According to court documents, Cohen led rioters in removing police barriers on the west front of the Capitol and entered the Lower West Terrace tunnel armed with a flagpole emblazoned with “Trump 2020” and Confederate flags.

There, Cohen struck a glass door and a police officer with a pole while trying to enter the building.

Cohen was arrested by the FBI on November 9, 2023 in Indianapolis. He is scheduled to be sentenced on February 26, 2025, before Chief US District Judge James Boasberg.
