Delhi Police have arrested two men for allegedly killing a 19-year-old woman and burying her body in a pit in an abandoned area in Haryana, officials said on Friday.

According to the police, the accused have been identified as Sanju alias Salim (victim’s boyfriend), Pankaj and Hrithik.

On October 22, the police received a statement from the deceased’s brother about the disappearance of his sister. According to them, he suspected that a man with whom his sister had recently befriended might be involved in her disappearance.

“After receiving the complaint, several teams were formed to investigate. The woman’s phone was switched off,” said a senior police officer.

During the investigation, the police arrested Sanju and Pankaj. They confessed to the crime and said that on October 21 they rented a car and took the victim along with some of her belongings.

“They confessed that they killed her and buried her body in Madina village in Haryana’s Rohtak district. Acting on their information, our team retrieved the victim’s body from a nearly four-feet deep pit in an abandoned area in Madina,” the officer added.

The police also reported that a criminal case had been opened. The third accused in the Hrithik case is being sought, the officer said.

Police sources said that some family members have also claimed that the victim was pregnant and teams are probing the case from all angles.

At the same time, the mother of the deceased demanded strict measures against the accused. She said her daughter was a social media influencer and made short videos for various platforms.

“We found out that she met a guy a few months ago. They became good friends and started talking. It was a shock when we found out that his real name is Salim. He confessed to killing my daughter and buried her body. We demand strict action against all the accused,” she said.

The victim’s brother-in-law said that the accused used a different name when he was friends with the woman.
