Federal authorities arrested Lil Durk in Broward County, Florida. According to ABC ChicagoUS marshals arrested rapper Durk Banks. He has no connection.

According to reports, the target of Durk’s hit-and-run was Georgia rapper Quando Rondo, who was involved in an altercation with King Von in 2020 outside an Atlanta lounge. Rondo and Vaughn got into a fistfight, which resulted in Rondo’s partner, Lul Tim, shooting and killing Vaughn. Rondo took the situation lightly and emphasized death in his music.

The award-winning rapper’s arrest came hours after five people were arrested in Chicago and charged in California with being ordered to kill Rondo. An indictment unsealed in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles details the arrests of Kavon London Grant, Deandre Dontrell Wilson, Keith Jones, David Brian Lindsey and Asa Houston. They are charged with premeditated murder, premeditated murder with death and using a machine gun during a crime of violence causing death. If found guilty, the punishment can be up to the death penalty.

The five arrested are linked to the “Family Only” group, known in hip-hop as OTF, which is led by Durk and has Von as a member. According to the documents, flights and rental cars for the five arrested were paid for with OTF credit cards. The five were arrested in Chicago and taken to the Dirksen US Courthouse, where they were taken into custody before the case was transferred to Los Angeles.

According to The Chicago Tribunesomeone in OTF offered money and “lucrative musical opportunities” in exchange for killing Quando Rondo. In August 2022, Rondo, his sister, and cousin Savaia Robinson were in an Escalade in West Hollywood when they were shot, killing Robinson.

Authorities have released video footage showing OTF branches attempting to stage a fit. An ATF team led by Grant booked a hotel room, bringing several firearms, including one that had been converted into a fully automatic machine gun. Grant also rented two cars, a white BMW and a white Infiniti, to track down and kill Rondo. The footage shows cars pulling up behind Rondo’s Escalade and three men shooting at Rondo and his family.

After the shooting, the defendants and the OTF co-conspirator were eating at a hamburger restaurant and discussing pasta for the shooting. The four shooters returned to Chicago the next day.

The arrest comes after The Dinizulu Law Group filed a civil lawsuit in Cook County Circuit Court seeking to hold rapper Lil Durk, OTF and several other music companies responsible for the Aug. 4 killing of Chicago rapper Carlton Weekly, known as FBG Duck. , 2020. Weekly was shot dead outside a Gold Coast retail store, and the lawsuit also represents two bystanders who were injured but survived the attack.

The lawsuit, announced during a press conference by prosecutor Yao Dinizulu, makes multiple allegations, including wrongful death, civil conspiracy, negligence and failure to render aid. The plaintiffs are seeking damages not only for Weekly’s death, but also for injuries caused to bystanders Davon Brinson and Kesha Williams. The lawsuit names other defendants, including Alamo Records, Sony Music Entertainment Inc., Universal Music Group Recordings Inc. (Interscope Records) and Empire Distribution Inc.

The lawsuit alleges that these companies profited from the bitter rivalry between OTF and FBG Duck by promoting “diss tracks” that caused tensions to escalate. He accuses Lil Durk, chairman of the OTF, and other members of the group, including the late King Von, of orchestrating a campaign of intimidation and violence against FBG Duck, announcing a $100,000 reward for his life. OTF is described as a criminal enterprise that used music and social media to facilitate gang activity.

The lawsuit also alleges misconduct by Chicago city officials, alleging that police and emergency responders failed to quickly respond to FBG Duck, who lay alive for more than 17 minutes without receiving medical attention. Dolce & Gabbana and its security firms are also accused of negligence, accusing them of failing to take adequate security measures.

The lawsuit follows the conviction in January of six gang members in connection with the death of FBG Duck. Federal prosecutors linked the killing to a gang war fueled by social media and rap music.
