Taylor Swift turned the NFL into an ‘internet show,’ says Matthew Stafford’s wife

Kelly Stafford, the outspoken wife of Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, says she’s “jealous” of the attention the pop star is getting. Taylor Swift received from NFLeven if it turned the players themselves into a “spin-off”.

In a last episode on her “The Morning After” podcast, Stafford talked about the announcement she made before the start of 2024. NFL season when she commented that she “doesn’t want to see four more months of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce coating”.

Stafford met the future Pro Bowl player while he was playing college football for the Georgia Bulldogs. Matthew Stafford was selected first overall by the Detroit Lions in 2009 NFL The draft He ranks among the top 12 all-time passers in attempts, completions, passing yards and touchdowns. He currently ranks fourth in rushing yards per game and holds the record for the fastest player in the NFL reach 40,000 career passing yards.

Regardless, it seems that the Super Bowl LVI champion’s wife admits that her jealousy over the media attention the “Bad Blood” singer was getting was at the root of it. She said: “I’ll say I’m a bit tired of the Chiefs’ coverage of it, actually NFLcoverage of this new relationship last year.”

Stafford continued, “I was a little jealous of the fact that (Swift and Kelsey) were getting so much attention and all of a sudden the football game was a sideshow. So yeah, maybe I let jealousy get the better of me.”

Swift and Kelsey became the main focus of the NFL during the 2023 season. Swift, a world-renowned pop star, has been seen at Chiefs games to support Kelce, and their relationship has garnered widespread media coverage. Swift’s presence attracted her huge fan base, though it also angered some sports fans who felt the focus on the singer distracted from the game itself.

Stafford seems to have been one of them. She continued to focus on Swift, claiming her own jealousy stemmed from feeling the players were being overlooked. She said: “I was like, ‘Why did I feel this way?’ And it’s true, I had problems with jealousy because of the fact that she suddenly became the main show in NFL football … or their relationship. And I watch my husband work his sh*t off, and I watch all these guys in the league work their sh*t off, and all of a sudden they’re like a minor show. That’s where this kind of thing came from.”

It is worth noting that Stafford herself is one of the most outstanding NFL wife in the public eye and tends to make statements in his podcasts or interviews that draw more attention to himself.

For example, she recently opined that Cleveland Browns fans who cheered for defensive end Deshaun Watson’s injury should be banned. NFL “gotta try to find every fan that cheered and ban them for life. My blood boils.”

Even more surprisingly (considering the circumstances), the Staffords made headlines this Halloween by dressing up as Swift and Kelsey.

Stafford will probably have another episode of her podcast about Swift soon, if only to explain the suit.
