TikToker Arrested for Mistaking Greek Flags for Israeli Flags

Amber MatthewsA 23-year-old TikTok user known as “Ambamelia” has been arrested and charged with bias and intimidation after vandalizing the property of a Greek restaurant, mistakenly believing Greek flags were Israeli.
According to the New York Post, the incident happened in March on the street Gyroscope Efi in Montclair, New Jersey, but Matthews didn’t post the video on TikTok until October 15.

Her video, where she tore down flags while screaming anti-Israel sloganshas since gone viral, amassing millions of views and causing backlash across the internet.
In the video, Matthews is seen angrily removing the restaurant’s Greek flags, shouting: “Free Palestine, a little!” and accuse businesses of supporting “Zionism” without realizing that the flags represent Greece, not Israel.
Eventually the restaurant staff pointed out her mistake, to which she replied, “Oh shit… it looked like Israel.”
Matthews reportedly visited the restaurant a week ago, distributing pro-Palestinian letters postcards
Restaurant owner Efi Michalis confirmed the incident, saying her staff were shocked by the unprovoked attack and added that Matthews had caused property damage.
Michalis reported the incident to Montclair police in March, but there were no leads until the video surfaced and an investigation was eventually launched.
Matthews standing in front of her court 3 December drew criticism on social media, with commentators calling the incident “disgraceful” and mocking the mistaken identity of the flags.
