Apple M4 MacBook Air update likely in early 2025 – check details

It is reported that Apple Inc. is gearing up for a major refresh of its MacBook Air lineup, with new models with M4 processors expected to debut in early 2025.

According to The Verge, the updated MacBook Air will likely be announced between January and March of next year.

While Apple is expected to unveil a series of updates to its lineup of computers next week, the MacBook Air will not be part of those announcements.

The recent release of the M3-equipped MacBook Air last spring means that future models will have a similar design to the current version of the M2, spanning 13-inch and 15-inch configurations, The Verge reports.

The M4 update for the MacBook Air shows Apple’s desire to advance its silicon technology after the introduction of the M3 chips.

According to reports obtained by The Verge, the new MacBook Airs will retain the sleek design that users are familiar with, while offering the improved performance capabilities expected from M4 chips.

In addition to the MacBook Air updates, Apple is set to announce new MacBook Pros, Mac Minis, and iMacs at an upcoming event.

However, those looking for an updated Mac Studio may have to wait longer.

Currently powered by the M2 Max and M2 Ultra chips, the next version is slated to launch “after the March software release,” which will happen sometime between March and June 2025.

Additionally, Apple is reportedly working on an M4 Mac Pro, although Gurman did not provide a release date.

Along with hardware updates, Apple plans to introduce a new iPhone SE, updated iPad Air models, updated iPad keyboards and new entry-level iPads this spring.
