Collingswood Police Department shared in a Facebook post that the Family Haunted Hayride at Knight Park required police intervention after approximately 200+ minors were dropped off at Knight Park in Collingswood, NJ.

“The event was quickly disrupted by fights, mainly between young people who arrived, and unruly behavior,” the department said.

Authorities said the unruly behavior began shortly after 8:20 p.m. on Oct. 19, when youths “ran recklessly through the crowd and lined up for the hayride.”

Police officers dispersed the brawlers to “ensure the safety of the families who attended the event,” the police said.

However, it was decided that there was no safe way to continue with the event, so the police closed it down The Halloween event is closed.

But the night was not over for the wild teenagers. Police said 50 to 70 juveniles took over a local Wawa gas station.

“While officers were dispersing a crowd in the park, a call came in reporting an incident at Wawa on Haddon Avenue in which 50 to 70 juveniles had taken over the store,” police said. “Officers were able to assist Vava in dispersing a group of juveniles who were stealing items and creating a disturbance.”

Wawa was also forced to shut down to prevent further damage, police said.

According to the police, chaos continued in the yards of residential buildings.

When the officers arrived In the park, they found approximately 80 juveniles involved in a mass fight and were met with resistance from youths who fought, kicked and pushed past police officers to continue the fight,” police said. “Some juveniles broke away from the main group and began running around. through neighboring residential yards.”

Police officers eventually dispersed the crowd and restored order. They did not detain, the department informed.

In a Facebook post, staff at the Collingswood Haunted Hayride event said “the evening was bigger than we could have hoped for.”
