A neighbor recounts the tragic scene as the police investigate the accident

The Boynton Beach Police Department is investigating a traffic homicide in the Windemere area.

According to the BBPD, the incident happened around 9:30 p.m. Thursday night and involved someone who was eating.

WPTV’s Michael Hoffman spoke with residents in the area as they dealt with the traumatic moments of what they saw.

Boynton Beach police have not confirmed the exact location of the incident, but neighbors Hoffman spoke with say they saw police, firefighters and EMS right on Rutland Lane in Boynton Beach. They add that they will never forget what they saw and heard that night.

Chris Dasconio talked about what he saw on Halloween.

“There was a woman in that area who was on her knees, crying, screaming in Creole,” Dasconio said. “There were small children there… They were screaming, crying. There were maybe 15 different first responders between the police and the fire department.”

“I don’t think I’ve ever heard anybody scream and cry like that,” said neighbor Chris Dasconio.

He says that after handing out candy on the porch, he packed up and went back inside. Soon he heard screams and rushed out the door.

“You could see it on people’s faces, police officers and stuff like that. And yes, I think it shook everybody up,” Dasconio said.

He says he saw the child on the ground with paramedics trying to perform CPR. Later, the child was loaded into an ambulance. He says it’s a feeling of helplessness he’ll never forget.

“I don’t think I’ve ever heard anybody scream and cry like that,” Dasconio said. “You know, aside from some of the movies, seeing it in person, like I said, was very surreal and just painful. As if you wanted to do something. But, you know, I don’t think it was at that time.”
