Fire destroys Adams County home, two firefighters treated

An Adams County home was destroyed by fire Thursday afternoon and two firefighters were treated and released from their injuries, officials said.

Firefighters were called to a house fire in the first block of Sunspot Trail in the Carroll Valley neighborhood around 2:25 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31, 2024, according to Fairfield Fire & EMS.

When they arrived, they saw that the house was engulfed in fire, the department said in a statement.

Two firefighters were injured while fighting the blaze, the department said, and were taken to a local hospital, where they were treated and released.

According to the report, there were no people at home during the fire, and there were no other injuries.

According to the release, a passing Amazon delivery driver started the fire.

According to the department, several departments in Pennsylvania and Maryland were fighting the fire.

Photos from the scene showed the single-story farmer’s house completely devastated, with flames tearing through the roof.

In the images, firefighters can be seen pouring water from a ladder bucket and several hoses.
