21-year-old Army specialist charged with murder after sergeant found dead

In this connection, charges of murder were brought the death of a 23-year-old US Army sergeant in Missouri.

Fort Leonard Wood officials announced that the Army’s Office of the Special Counsel has charged 21-year-old Warrant Officer Worcester Rancy with murder. Sergeant Sarah Rock.

Maj. Gen. Christopher G. Beck said during a news conference Friday that Rancy is in solitary confinement ahead of a preliminary hearing.

Beck said Rancy and Roque worked together in the same battalion.

“As far as other interactions, that’s part of the investigation, so that will evolve over time,” Beck told reporters.

In addition to the murder charge, Rancy was also charged with obstruction of justice.

Roque was reported missing on October 21. Her body was found the next day in a dumpster on the base near living quarters for single soldiers.

A memorial service was held in honor of Thursday.

Investigators took Rancy into custody on October 24. On Wednesday, he was transferred to the Midwest Regional Detention Center in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.

Rancy is originally from North Miami, Florida. He serves as a sapper of the 509th clearing company of the 5th sapper battalion.

The Department of the Army’s Criminal Investigation Division said the investigation into the killing is ongoing.
