GOSHEN. A Pine Bush man pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a child in Orange County court Thursday.

Orange County District Attorney David Howler said Allan Bressler, 73, of Pine Bush, pleaded guilty to first-degree sexual assault of a child, a felony.

In his guilty plea, Bressler admitted that between March 1, 2008 and Feb. 1, 2013, he engaged in two or more acts of a sexual nature with a child under the age of 11, including at least one act of oral sex in close proximity to a child, Hoovler said. at his home in Pine Bush.

Hoovler said his office will recommend that Bressler be sentenced to 18 years in state prison, followed by 10 years of post-release supervision. Bressler’s sentencing is scheduled for February 20, 2025.

Hoovler praised the Orange County Child Abuse Task Force for their work on this and other cases where the passage of time makes it difficult to investigate child sexual abuse. The task force worked with state police on Bressler’s investigation.

“Criminals who have engaged in child abuse should never have the opportunity to think that they have escaped punishment over time,” Guvler said in a statement released by his office. “At the age of 73, this criminal may or may not live long enough to serve his sentence, but the children of our community are safer every day that he remains behind bars.”

“These incidents occurred because of a lack of character,” Bressler’s attorney, Brandon Ozman, said Friday. “My client has taken responsibility for his actions.”
