Fulton County Court Sentences Rapper To Punishment And 15 Years Of Probation On Multiple Organized Crime Charges

Young bandit pleaded guilty and was sentenced to time served and 15 years of probation on Thursday, Oct. 31, ending a nearly year-long Atlanta racketeering trial — the longest criminal trial in Georgia history.

According to WSB-TV, Rolling Stone and ABC NewsThe 33-year-old rapper, whose real name is Jeffrey Williams, entered into a plea deal with the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office on Thursday.

Judge Paige Reese Whitaker sentenced Williams to 40 years in prison, but commuted it to probation. CNN and Associated Press. He will be released from custody on Thursday and will have to serve 15 years on probation. If he violates his probation, he could serve up to 20 years at the judge’s discretion.

As part of the deal, Williams pleaded guilty to several charges, including three drug trafficking charges, two weapons charges and one gang charge. He also pleaded no contest — that is, pleaded guilty, but pleaded not guilty — to racketeering conspiracy and participating in a leadership position in a criminal street gang.

Rapper “Go Grazy” was first charged in May 2022along with 27 others, including rapper Gunna, in violation of Georgia’s Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, or RICO. The group is accused of being part of an alleged street gang called Young Slime Life, or YSL (a name similar to the chart-topping artist’s label Life records of a young Stoner). The members are accused of several crimes, including murder, armed robbery, drug trafficking and carjacking.

A second indictment was filed in August 2022, charging Williams with six more felony charges, according to Associated Press.

Among the most serious charges in the case, Williams was charged in the January 2015 shooting death of Donovan Thomas Jr., a rival gang member who died in a drive-by shooting. Prosecutors say Williams rented the car used in the shooting.

Williams has been in custody since 2022, and lawyers have filed several motions to dismiss the trial, including last week. The jury selection process lasted more than a year, according to CNN.

Williams’ case has also been marked by controversy and drama, including previous judges being recused from the case and the rapper’s attorney, Brian Steele charged with contempt of court.

If convicted at trial, Williams could face a maximum of 120 years in prison. Rolling Stone reports

Three of Young Thug’s co-defendants — Quamarvius Nichols, 29, Markwavius ​​Huey, 28, and Rodalius Ryan, 18 — also took plea deals this week, CNN reported.
