Didmus Barasa pleads with Ruto to cut short Burundi trip and return home for Kindiki swearing-in

Kimilili Deputy Didmus Barasa wrote an open letter urging President William Ruto to end his trip to Burundi and return to Kenya.

Ruto left the country on Thursday, October 31, to attend the COMESA summit to drum up support Raila Odinga’s AUC application, among other purposes.

Why does Didmus Barasa want Ruto back?

In the statement I saw TUKO.co.ke, Deputy Kimilili Didmus Barasa told the president about this Kiture Kindiki must be sworn in so that he can act as president in Ruto’s absence.

“William Samoei Ruto, our dear President, may I appeal to you, Your Excellency Sir, with the declaration of the three judges that the Vice-President is performing your functions as President in your absence, and recognizing that Kiture Kindiki is unable to perform these functions, because he did not take the oath,” Barasa’s message reads.

He added that since the Vice President had not been sworn in, the President should return to the country to preside over Kindiki’s swearing in ceremony.

“Would you please respectfully get on your plane and return to the country with another important function: to change the oath of office of your Vice President to prevent any further constitutional crisis,” he added.
