A fight broke out at an early voting site in Orangeburg County

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (WIS) – State authorities are investigating a fight that occurred Wednesday at an early voting location in Orangeburg County.

A fight broke out between a man in a hat and employees of the station.

According to video provided to WIS News 10 and sources, the man was wearing a “Let’s go Brandon” hat. He cussed at the polls when he was told he couldn’t vote at the old Orangeburg County Library.

In the video, you can hear how the precinct employees tell the man to take the hat “outside”. One poll worker said they could not serve him and call the next voter in line. According to the video, the man tosses his hat to whoever is next in line to vote.

After that, a fight broke out, the police officer can be seen hitting the man, the video says.

The video shows polling station workers holding the man as he waves his arms.

Orangeburg County Public Safety responded to the fight, according to sources.

the law saysThe precinct manager shall use all reasonable means to keep the area within five hundred feet of any such entrance free of political literature and exhibits, and county and municipal law enforcement agencies, upon request of the precinct manager, shall remove or cause the removal of any material within five hundred feet of any such entrance that is distributed or displayed in violation of this section.”

The South Carolina Division of Law Enforcement is investigating the fight.

Early voting continues in South Carolina until November 2.
