Seruiratu calls on California leaders to protect the rights and dignity of Fiji educators and other immigrant families

We urge California leaders to protect the rights and dignity of Fiji educators and other immigrant families, offering ways to citizenship and relief for people with unauthorized immigration status.

This is an opposition leader, Ini Seururat, as he says that local efforts should be supported to protect immigrant families and to promote culture of understanding and inclusion.

Seruratu says that they stand solidarily with Fiji caregivers and other immigrants in California, and they will continue to stand for a policy that supports the values of compassion, justice and equality for all.

Opposition leader says they are deeply concerned about the well -being and safety of Fiji educators who are in the United States with unauthorized immigration status.

According to him, the recent immigration performance by the Trump administration has created a state of fear and uncertainty for many former Fiji residents, and meaningless rhetoric from misinformed commentators has worsened the situation.

Seruratu says that as educators, these people have devoted themselves to providing vital support and care for families in California, including vulnerable elderly people and people with disabilities.

Opposition leader says that they have made a significant contribution to the economic and social fabric of the state, and their presence is a testament to the strength and stability of immigrant communities. Unfortunately, he says that the federal administration’s repression on unauthorized immigration has subjected to the risk of deportation of these caregivers.

Seruratu says that many Fiji educators have been working in the country for many years, building relationships with their employers and patients, and have become an integral part of the care system.

He recognizes the huge contribution that our caregiver community in California has made at home and the national economy.
