Chennai: Corporation of the Great Chennai On Thursday, unauthorized structures were removed by sellers of flowers Sardar Pavel -Road In Adera, opposite Fortis Malara Hospital, following complaints that encroachment, including a straw roof structure on the office road, is inconvenient pedestrians.
The senior official of the corporation stated that the first encroachment appeared a few years ago before spreading and eventually, they took over the entire lane.
Flower suppliers initially placed kiosks near Fortis-Malar Hospital, but visitors’ vehicles complicated passengers and departure from MTC buses. It also affected the flow of movement. Then the civic body was built by certain shops near the old Bridge Adiar and allocated them to sellers.
Thursday operation, indicated by installation complaints from road users, seized 32 “stores”. Officials said that during the three -hour operation, the welding equipment was used to dismantle iron -supported structures and earth courts deployed to remove straw sheets.
As a rule, GCC issues a message before taking measures against encroachment. In this case, according to the officials, immediate actions were taken because of fears, which are the potential risk of accidents.
Residents of the surrounding areas expressed a relief after removal of “shops”, but called on the corporation to ensure that the encroachments do not repeat the office road. Such encroachments, according to them, continue to engage in public spaces, especially along the sidewalks in Adiar, along Elliota Beach and Tiruwanmia.
